ABOUT

I am a visual artist who Is currently exploring natural phenomena through photography. In the past, having worked with painting, ink drawing, moving and still images, and installation. Using light as my medium, my work has a quiet sensitivity to it. There are no criteria for what might cause my choice in a moment to take a shot; I simply do so when the urge is felt, noticing something and acting on it.

Fascinated by the idea of capturing fleeting moments of lights path being interrupted by and interacting with our everyday surroundings, I also use the natural phenomena of casted shadows as a medium. My aim is to preserve these ephemeral moments. By taking photographs, I can immortalize these fleeting interactions and allow others to experience what would otherwise be gone forever. I'm infatuated by the impermanence and ephemeral nature of light; I seize the opportunities to capture it using both my DSLR camera and iPhone. The key aspect of my process is the unexpected results. Walking around at different times of the day leads to new interactions between light and architecture. These interactions depend on variables such as the weather and the environment I am in. The concept of ephemerality ties into not overly planning, but rather "stumbling" across an unexpected phenomenon.

I am Inspired by the likes of Rinko Kawauchi who has lived by the idea that “Some things can only be obtained through moving my body to face my photographic subject head-on” for more than 30 years, attempting to respond to the impossible question of why she exists at this particular place and moment in time. It is per her way of life that I find it important to maintain the spontaneity of the moment in my photos remaining untouched and unedited. Choosing to deliberately include that disruption of the everyday life, keeping them raw and true to the time they were taken.
